Why wont my laptop open downloaded files

Answer (1 of 4): It sounds like your memory is close to full, or the device has lost its memory of where to write the file after you download it. Go to your settings and tap on storage. If your storage is close to full, move or delete files as needed to free memory. If memory is not the problem. OneDrive won't download a file to my Windows 10 PC. OneDrive has been downloading an entire file and working as it should then all of sudden it stopped downloading the entire file. I don't know what else to try. First thing to note: The reason the file doesn’t open is that your computer lacks the software to open it. That’s a fact. If someone emailed you the file, email them back and explain that you cannot open the file. Your situation isn’t your own fault; the other person needs to send the file in the proper format.
